Where is Tagbilaran City

Tagbilaran, officially known as the City of Tagbilaran, is a lone third class component city which serves as the capital city of the province of Bohol. It houses about 100,000 people, and serves as the hub of commerce and the principal port of the area. Dubbed as the “City of Peace and Friendship,” as well as one of the eight “Philippine Dream Cities” by the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA) and one of the Philippines’ twenty (20) “Most Competitive Cities” and “Pinoy Cities on the Rise” by the Asian Institute of Management Policy Center, Tagbilaran City, is no doubt fast becoming a city on its way to development.

The city of Tagbilaran is also known for its tourist attractions which include the Kaingit Beach, Blood Compact Marker, Plaza Rizal, Provincial Capitol Building, Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Memorial Park, Ubujan Marker, Bohol Museum, Banat-I Hill, Elly Hill, Jaycee Promenade (commonly known as K of C Promenade), and the Mini Park.

Geographically, Tagbilaran City has a land area of 32.7 km2 (12.6 sq mi), with a coastline of 13 km (8.1 mi) on the southwestern part of the island. It is located 72 kms (45 mi.) south of Cebu City, and it shares its boundaries with the towns of Cortes, Corella, and Baclayon.

Tagbilaran has a well-developed land network consisting of sealed and unsealed roads. The local transport routes within the city are plied with tricycles, multicabs, taxis, jeepneys, buses, and vans. There’s also the Integrated Bus Terminal (IBT) located in the City District of Dao, serving as the terminal point for public transport vehicles serving the inter-city routes within the province and also serves as the embarkation point for passengers taking the Pan-Philippine Highway (AH26) bus route from Tagbilaran to Metro Manila. There is also a long-distance bus station within the Cogon market.

The city is linked by sea to the major port cities in the Visayas Islands and Mindanao, which gives it a major commercial importance. The route is served by Ocean Jet, Weesam Express and SuperCat several times daily. There’s also the Bohol-Panglao International Airport situated at the Panglao Island southwest of the city, which serves as the principal gateway airport to the rest of the province. This route is served by Cebu Pacific Air, Cebgo, PAL Express, and AirAsia Philippines using Airbus A319, Airbus A320 and ATR 72 planes.
