The Conductor’s Theoretical Course (CTC) is an eight (8) hour seminar required to be attended by those who are applying for a Conductor’s License (CL). It is hosted by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and is carried out at the Driver Education Centers (DECs) in selected LTO Offices in the Philippines.
The CTC is a specialized course for conductors. The classroom session and the culminating exam covers topics that aim to educate and enlighten conductors, who serve as partners or assistants to public vehicle drivers. It also makes it clear for conductors what their specific tasks, duties, responsibilities, and obligations are. Completing the CTC and passing the culminating exam will give the aspiring conductors a CTC certificate—a mandatory documentary requirement for obtaining a conductor’s license issued by the LTO.
Taking the Conductor’s Theoretical Course (CTC) Exam
Just like its counterpart for drivers, the Theoretical Driving Course (TDC), the CTC also has classroom sessions and a culminating exam that needs to be cleared by the applicant. It’s a short one, with only twenty (20) multiple-choice questions, that requires only at least 80% correct answers to pass.
The CTC, both the course and the culminating exam, encompasses a wide range of topics which includes the following:
- Republic Act 4136, which pertains to road and traffic laws and traffic signs;
- fare discounts;
- basic courtesy towards passengers;
- gender sensitivity;
- cargo loading;
- maintenance of public vehicles; and
- breakdown of public vehicles
