Where is Puerto Princesa City

Puerto Princesa, officially known as the City of Puerto Princesa, is a first class, highly urbanized city in the westernmost part of the province of Palawan in the MIMAROPA Region. It’s a relatively young independent city that offers a tropical paradise, and is known as the City in a Forest, thanks to its bustling urban center surrounded by lush rainforests and white sand beaches. 

The city of Puerto Princesa is independently managed, despite being geographically located at the middle part of Palawan, only hours away from the city proper. It has a huge land area, second only to Davao City at 2,381.02 square kilometres (919.32 sq mi). To date, houses a population of around 300,000 people, most of whom are engaged in agriculture.

Puerto Princesa is located in the midsection of Palawan Island. It is bounded to the east by the Sulu Sea, to the west by the South China Sea, to the north by the municipalities of San Vicente and Roxas, and to the south by the municipality of Aborlan. It is approximately 306 nautical miles (567 km) from the capital city of Manila, and is most famous for the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park or the Underground River. It also serves as the gateway to several famous paradise-like destinations in Palawan like El Nido and San Vicente because of its own international airport. But more than being just a jump-off site and location to the famous natural wonders, Puerto Princesa City is also the “Eco-Tourism Center of the Philippines” as well as the cleanest and greenest city in the Philippines.

Puerto Princesa City is also the home to Puerto Princesa International Airport, an international airport within the city proper, making it is accessible by direct flights to and from the major cities of the Philippines. It is also served by domestic passenger ferries at the port of Puerto Princesa.

Land travel is also easy within the city and in the nearby tourist attractions, with the main modes of transport ranging from tricycles to jeepneys, vans-for-hire (or PUVs/public utility vehicles), and taxis. Provincial buses and jeepneys also operate from the San Jose terminal 7 kilometers north of the city center off the National Highway.
