Where is Ilocos Region (Region 1)

Region 1, otherwise known as Ilocos Region, is an administrative region of the Philippines on the northwestern section of Luzon and a portion of the Central Luzon plain, primarily by the province of Pangasinan.  It is composed of four provinces (Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan) and one independent city (Dagupan). Where is Tacloban City

Tacloban, officially known as the City of Tacloban, is a first class highly urbanized city (HUC) in the Eastern Visayas region. The city is known as the Gateway to Eastern Visayas, serving as Leyte’s temporary provincial capitol, though it is autonomous from the province. It is well known as the Home of the Happiest People in the World, and operates under the guidance of its motto as the City of Love, Beauty and Progresses.

True to its guiding motto, the city of Tacloban is a progressive and competitive city that keeps bouncing back regardless of the numerous destructive tragedies that struck the place. To date, it serves as the region’s economic and eco industrial hub, with an economy largely focused on agriculture, commerce, tourism, education, and culture. It also declares the lowest poverty rates in the country, and is a key regional transportation hub in the region, housing the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport. 

Tacloban is also the largest city and distributing center in the eastern Visayan Islands (Leyte and Samar) group, located in San Pedro Bay at the southern entrance to San Juanico Strait. The Red Beach, which is located to the south of Tacloban City, at Palo, was one of the landing sites and is now a known tourist attraction.

Romualdez Airport as well as the New Transport Terminal of Tacloban City and New Bus Terminal located in Abucay district. The San Juanico Bridge connects the city to the town of Santa Rita in Samar.
